Reading Energy: The Truth About Divination

Divination often is considered to be a form of magic, although this practice revolves around reading energy more than actually moving it. Here's the important point about divination: Contrary to popular misconception, the practice of divination does not foretell the future - at least not a predestined, unchangeable future.

The practice of divination simply reads the current energy. This reading may point to the way that the future may enfold if steps are not taken to alter the course, by changing behavior or making new decisions.

The term divination encompasses a wide variety of techniques, including (but not limited to) the interpretation of astrology, dreams, lots (dice, runes, and so on), natural phenomena (such as the flight patterns of birds or the falling of meteors), pendulum use, scrying (staring into a reflective surface or flame), oracle cards, or trance work.

Divination may work because the divine is intervening and revealing the current path or pointing towards solutions or better options. Or, the symbols and activities involved in divination may activate or trigger the unconscious mind to react and help solve problems, resolve issues, or establish a new, more desirable course for the future.
